Going into the 2009 NFL season, the lowly Oakland Raiders spent more on player contracts than any of the other 31 teams in the league. The eventual Super Bowl-winning New Orleans Saints were ranked fourth in team payroll and the runner-up Indianapolis Colts were #30 (despite having the highest-paid single player in quarterback Peyton Manning). |
