Community Partnerships
The Sport Market on TEAM 1040 and teamradio.ca and TheSportMarket.biz places a premium on the promotion and development of sport philanthropy.
As part of our vision to encourage community investment and enhancement by professional sports leagues, franchises and their owners, foundations and corporate partners, we are committed to doing our own small part to “walk the walk” of sport philanthropy through a series of important community partnerships at the international, national and local levels.

The Sport Market is proud to be an Official Supporter and an Official Media Partner of Right To Play Canada, part of the international organization that is committed to every child’s right to play. We are proud to contribute a portion of our advertising revenues each and every week to Right To Play, while also encouraging direct funding relationships between our corporate partners and individual donations to Right To Play Canada.
The mission of Right To Play is to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for development, health and peace. Its vision is to create a healthier and safer world through the power of sport and play.
Through games and sports, the movement created as a legacy of the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Winter Games and founded and developed under the leadership of Olympic champion speed skater Johan Olav Koss helps create social change in communities affected by war, poverty and disease.
Each week, Right To Play ensures that more than 700,000 children take part in regular sport and play activities. A combined total of more than one million children attend regular programming and special sports events and festivals made possible by more than 15,000 local coaches, teachers and leaders.
Right To Play gives children a chance to become constructive participants in society, regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, social background or religion.
A team of top athletes from more than 40 countries support Right To Play. As role models, these athletes inspire children and raise awareness about Right To Play internationally. Right To Play aims to engage key decision-makers from the development, sport, business, media and government sectors and further ensure every child benefits from the positive power of sport and play.
Our long-standing commitment to promote sport philanthropy and the best practices in the business of sport makes our community partnership with Right To Play a natural fit, especially given its values representing CHILDREN -- cooperation, hope, integrity, leadership, dedication, respect, enthusiasm and nurture – and which aim to reflect the best practices of sport and play.

KidSport Canada is another preferred community beneficiary of The Sport Market on TEAM 1040 and teamradio.ca and TheSportMarket.biz, which will provide specific fund-raising opportunities and direct financial contributions on the strength of its own partnerships with advertisers and the support of its listeners, fans and web site visitors. We aim to champion promotional and financial support to KidSport™ as it in turn supports children in order to remove the financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.
The mission of KidSport is based on the belief that that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports.
KidSport™ Canada is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. KidSport provides grants allowing children to play a season of sport. KidSport Canada supports a network of 11 provincial/territorial KidSport chapters and 177 community KidSport chapters across Canada.
The Sport Market on TEAM 1040 and teamradio.ca and TheSportMarket.biz supports KidSport Canada and the values and benefits of kids playing organized sports in order so that young Canadians will:
- Become physically active
- Improve their self-esteem and self-confidence
- Learn life-long skills
- Improve their academic performance
- Make new friends
- Share and celebrate their culture
Since incorporating in 2005, KidSport Canada has attracted a business based Pan-Canadian board, financial support from the federal government and corporate Canada, and created partnerships in KidSport communities across the country.

The Sport Market on TEAM 1040 and teamradio.ca is proud to partner with The Stadnyk Foundation in the promotion and development of sport philanthropy.
The Stadnyk Foundation was formed to create new horizons for cause-related marketing, community investment and fund-raising through the promotion and development of sport philanthropy. The Foundation aims to support and recognize those who share its commitment to community investment through sport.
One of the major public communications initiatives supported by The Stadnyk Foundation is its Giving and Winning feature on The Sport Market on TEAM 1040 and teamradio.ca. Every week, a best practice or “best individual” in the field of sport philanthropy – especially philanthropy by professional and other high profile athletes, coaches and executives – is profiled on Giving and Winning: The Sport Philanthropy Report presented by The Stadnyk Foundation.
The mantra for The Stadnyk Foundation, co-chaired by Vancouver businessman David Stadnyk and his wife Suzie Shaker-Stadnyk, is “The Best People. The Best Causes.”
